The scariest thing about distance is that you don’t know whether they’ll miss you or forget you.

Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

So true.

Vincent Van Gogh used to eat yellow paint because he thought it would get the happiness inside him. Many people thought he was mad and stupid for doing so because the paint was toxic, never mind that it was obvious that eating paint couldn’t possible have any direct correlation to one’s happiness, but I never saw that. If you were so unhappy that even the maddest ideas could possible work, like painting the walls of your internal organs yellow, than you are going to do it. It’s really no different than falling in love or taking drugs. There is a greater risk of getting your heart broken or overdosing, but people still do it everyday because there was always that chance it could make things better. Everyone has their yellow paint.

And that is why I fall in love.

To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless,—it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.

C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves  (via wordsnquotes)

Once in a while it really hits people that they don’t have to experience the world in the way they have been told to.

Alan Keightley, Into Every Life a Little Zen Must Fall
(via wordsnquotes)

Why is self confidence arrogant? Why is self-depreciation considered modesty? I worked my [butt] off to be able to have a high opinion of myself. It took a long time and many, many years, and I’m never going to tell – let anyone tell me that I should think less of myself.

She was one of those people who are irrevocably, incurably honest and therefore both inflexible and vulnerable at the same time.

If you find yourself constantly trying to prove your worth to someone, you have already forgotten your value.

You shouldn’t be a prisoner of your own ideas.

The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.

Everything’s a risk. Not doing anything is a risk. It’s up to you.

Nicola Yoon, Everything, Everything (via wordsnquotes)

The result of your not listening to your experience is that you keep re-living it, over and over again.

Neale Donald Walsch, Conversations with God, An Uncommon Dialogue: Living in the World with Honesty, Courage, and Love – Volume 3 (via wnq-anonymous)

There is no one right way to live.

That’s the thing with magic. You’ve got to know it’s still here, all around us, or it just stays invisible for you.

Everyone sees what you appear to be, few experience what you really are.

To be someone’s best friend requires a minimum investment of time. More than that, though, it takes emotional energy. Caring about someone deeply is exhausting.

Malcolm Gladwell, The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference (via fyp-psychology)

I am lonely, yet not everybody will do. I don’t know why, some people fill the gaps and others emphasize my loneliness.

constantly torn between “if it’s meant to be, it will be” and “if you want it, go get it”

seriously though.

how about a mix of the two “if its meant to be, its up to me”

Anyone who knows me,
should learn to know me again;
for I am like the Moon,
you will see me with new face everyday.
